Samsung's galaxy buds able leak reveals open-air design

Another Samsung earbud design seems to be on the horizon, judging by a leaked icon discovered in the One UI firmware. The Galaxy Buds Able, as it's tentatively named, could bring a radically different approach to in-ear audio.

Samsung's next buds may have an open-ear design

An image group within the firmware apparently showcases the design icon for the Galaxy Buds Able. This icon, analyzed by SammyGuru, suggests an open-air concept with clip-on functionality, similar to the Huawei FreeClip 2 and Sony LinkBuds Clip.

While the leaked image doesn't provide fine details, it appears to depict two dome-like elements and a grille on one side, which could house microphones. This design would allow for listening to audio without blocking off the outside world.

SammyGuru also reports that Samsung may employ traditional drivers rather than bone conduction for the Galaxy Buds Able, if the leaked design is authentic. This would align with the open-ear concept popularized by recent models like the Huawei FreeClip 2, Bose Ultra Open, Anker Soundcore AeroClip, and the Sony LinkBuds Clip.

If true, the open-ear design would enable users to stay aware of their surroundings while consuming audio, a preference that's gaining traction in the earbuds market.
