Samsung expands camera assistant feature to mid-range, budget phones

Samsung has rolled out its Camera Assistant feature to a wider range of devices beyond its flagship S series, aiming to give more of its smartphones enhanced camera controls.

The Camera Assistant, which initially debuted as an exclusive feature on Samsung's Galaxy S line, provides additional settings for fine-tuning the behavior of the stock camera app. It allows users to customize aspects such as auto lens switching, prioritize focus over speed, and monitor audio levels during video recording.

Previously, this feature was only available on S series phones, but Samsung has now made it accessible on the Galaxy A5x lineup, including devices like the Galaxy A52, A56, and A57. The update is also trickling down to certain mid-range handsets with the One UI 8.5 software.

In addition, Samsung has expanded Camera Assistant to a larger group of 19 devices, which includes tablets as well. These devices include the Galaxy A34, Galaxy M34, Galaxy A35, Galaxy M35, Galaxy A36, Galaxy M36, Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

Users can access the Camera Assistant by launching the camera app and navigating to the camera settings menu, where it will be displayed at the bottom of the page. For devices that don't have it pre-installed, the feature can be downloaded from the Good Lock or Galaxy Store apps.

Samsung's decision to expand Camera Assistant to more devices demonstrates the company's focus on delivering advanced camera capabilities to a broader range of its smartphone offerings, rather than reserving them solely for high-end models.
