Oppo bets the house on 10x glass: find x9 ultra lands april 21
Oppo just slammed a date on the table: 21 April, 7 p.m. Beijing time. That’s when the Find X9 Ultra steps into the ring with a 10-periscope stack no Western flagship dares to ship.
The company’s teaser reel already flaunts the headline act—dual 200 MP sensors on the back, one married to a quintuple-prism 10X module that folds light five times inside three elements, shaving a third off the usual periscope bulk. Translation: a 230 mm-equivalent lens that still slides into a coat pocket.
Why this zoom matters in 2026
Every other maker has pivoted to large-short telephotos and AI crop tricks. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra stops at 5X; Google’s Pixel 10 Pro maxes out at 6X in hardware. Oppo alone keeps the long glass alive, betting that silicon brains can’t yet fake photons that never touched the sensor.
Inside the camera bar you’ll also find a 50 MP ultra-wide (14 mm) and a 3X 200 MP portrait module, both feeding the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ISP. Oppo claims a 35 % faster night-to-day RAW merge versus the X8 Ultra, courtesy of stacked LYT-901 and OV52A silicon.
The rest of the sheet reads like a spec nerd’s fever dream: 7 050 mAh silicon-carbon cell, 100 W wired refill, 50 W wireless, 6.82-inch flat 2K AMOLED at 120 Hz, 16 GB LPDDR5X, 1 TB UFS 4.1. Translation: two-day battery even if you hammer the 4K 120 fps mode.

Global rom, global headaches?
Oppo swears the global firmware drops the Chinese bloat and finally pushes Google-certified SafetyNet, so your banking app won’t sulk and Android Auto won’t crash at the first off-ramp. Early firmware leaks show notification pings arriving on time—something last year’s ColorOS still fumbled outside the mainland.
Colors? Jet-black ceramic, glacier-white glass, vegan-leather teal and a burnt-orange Kevlar weave. Price tags hover at €1 299 for 512 GB and €1 499 for the 1 TB tier when it hits European shelves two weeks after the China drop.
Bottom line: if you shoot concerts, wildlife or just spy on your neighbour’s cat, the Find X9 Ultra is the only 2026 pocket rocket that doesn’t ask you to trust an AI hallucination past 5X. The rest of the industry moved the goalposts; Oppo brought a longer lens. Sometimes physics still wins.
