IPhone Duo: Challenges for Left-Handed Users and When to Expect Improvements
Two weeks ago, we reported on concerns from left-handed consumers about using the foldable iPhone Duo with one hand. The lack of Face ID and the vertical app dock on the right side of the internal display pose challenges for southpaws. Apple could potentially address the dock issue via a software update, allowing lefties to move it to the other side.

When to Expect Apple to Add Face ID to the iPhone Duo
There is speculation that Apple will add Face ID to the third-generation Duo. Any hardware changes are unlikely for next year's foldable iPhone. Those holding out for a version with a telephoto camera will probably have to wait until the 2028 iPhone Duo.
Byte Review's Tom Hitchins shared a video on Instagram showing how a left-handed user can operate the iPhone Duo one-handed, but he noted that he's actually right-handed. The external 5.4-inch display posed little problem, but the internal screen's dock placement on the right side might be an issue for lefties.
Ultimately, the iPhone Duo's usability depends on individual hand size and holding preferences. Some lefties may find it manageable, while others may prefer a different design. Apple's official case for the Duo will cost $79 in several colors.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo start on October 16, with the device launching exactly one week later on October 23. Pricing begins at $1,999 for the 256GB model and goes up to $3,199 for the 2TB variant.
