Google Addresses Annoying RSVP Email Flood in Calendar

Google is tackling a long-standing frustration for Calendar users with a new setting designed to curb the influx of RSVP emails. For years, organizers have been inundated with automated responses after sending out meeting invitations, particularly when dealing with large groups.

Introducing ‘Get an Email When Guests Respond’

The update, detailed on the Google Workspace Updates blog, introduces a simple checkbox labeled “Get an email when guests respond.” This option appears directly above the meeting description, allowing organizers to opt-out of receiving RSVP notifications.

How It Works

When disabled, organizers won’t receive emails from attendees using Google Calendar. However, their RSVP status will still be visible within the event itself. Crucially, the update also clarifies that organizers won’t receive automatic replies from third-party calendar tools like Outlook, and their RSVP status won’t be reflected there either.
