The phantom 'action failed' message

The issue manifests as a red circle with a white 'X' and a message proclaiming, “Action failed.” This is accompanied by a helpful suggestion to “try completing the action(s) in the Clock app.” The irony, of course, is that the action has been completed, leaving users questioning the reliability of Google's AI.

The root cause, according to reports, lies in a timeout issue within the Gemini interface. While it's communicating with the Clock app to set the alarm, it appears to lose connection before receiving confirmation. The request does, however, ultimately reach the Clock app, ensuring the alarm is set—a detail Google seems keen to downplay.

A quick dance through the Gemini app settings—tapping your profile picture, navigating to Gemini Apps Activity, toggling it off and then back on—can force a resync and seemingly resolve the error.
