The initial promise and subsequent disappointment

Since the Galaxy S26 devices began rolling out in early March, a significant number of users reported a frustrating inability to reliably connect their phones to their vehicle's infotainment system via Android Auto. The failures manifested in two primary ways: either the connection simply wouldn't establish at all, or it would momentarily appear before abruptly dropping. This impacted all S26 models, including the premium Ultra variant, effectively sabotaging the seamless in-car experience many were anticipating.

Google pushed out Android Auto 16.4 via the Google Play Store and as a downloadable APK file, offering a glimmer of hope. But the reality has been less than ideal. Numerous users are still reporting intermittent connectivity, even after upgrading to the latest beta version, 16.6. Android Auto either fails to launch altogether or shuts down mere seconds after establishing a connection. It becomes abundantly clear that Google’s fix, while a step in the right direction, isn’t the definitive solution many were hoping for.

The company hasn’t yet provided specifics on future patches or definitively declared the issue resolved.
