Ai-driven trojan malware infiltrates android devices

A powerful new Trojan malware has been discovered, exploiting AI-generated prompts to gain control over Android devices. Dubbed 'PromptSpy' by cybersecurity firm ESET, this sophisticated malware uses Google's Gemini Technology to adapt to its surroundings, making it extremely difficult to detect and eliminate.

How it works

Unlike traditional Android Trojans, PromptSpy leverages AI to automate actions, making it a more dynamic and stealthy threat. Once installed, it can intercept screen locks, capture device data, and even record or take screenshots.

According to ESET researcher Lukáš Štefanko, the malware's AI-driven nature allows it to adapt to any device, design, or operating system version, significantly expanding its potential victim pool.

The malware's persistence is also noteworthy, as it can maintain its presence on an infected device without being easily removable. This makes it a prime example of how AI is being used to create more resilient and evasive malware.

While PromptSpy has only been spotted in a single, Argentina-based app called MorganArg, its discovery serves as a warning of the growing threat AI poses to mobile security. As AI-generated malware continues to evolve, it's essential for users and developers to stay vigilant and develop new strategies for detecting and countering these sophisticated threats.
