Total Wireless, a pre-paid Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and part of the Verizon Value portfolio, has announced a unique partnership with Western Union. This collaboration brings Western Union’s financial services to select Total Wireless retail locations, expanding access to essential services for communities across the US.
A Legacy of Communication and Finance
Western Union has a long and storied history, initially serving as a vital communication channel through telegrams from 1860 to 1950. Before the widespread adoption of telephone lines, fax machines, and the internet, Western Union telegrams were the preferred method for long-distance communication, often used to announce significantlife events like births, deaths, and weddings. The company also pioneered money transfer services in 1871, and remains a global leader in this sector with over 500,000 agent locations in more than 200 countries and territories.
Expanding Financial Access Through Retail Locations
The partnership will initially roll out to select Total Wireless stores, with plans to expand to more locations nationwide by the end of the year. Participating stores will offer money transfers, bill pay services, and money orders, providing convenient access to these crucial financial tools. “Our stores are gathering places in the communities we serve,” stated David Kim, President of Verizon Value. “By adding Western Union to the retail experience, we’re expanding access to everyday financial services for everyone. Fee-Free Money Transfers for Eligible Customers
Total Wireless continues to offer a valuable perk to its customers. Eligible Total Wireless customers on MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans will continue to receive one fee-free Western Union money transfer each month. This transaction can be completed at participating Total Wireless stores, or conveniently through Western Union’s website (westernunion.com) or mobile app. All Total Wireless subscribers will have access to bill pay, money order, and money transfer services.
