Apple's Vision Glasses Aim to Track Health and Fitness, Hiring Reveals

Apple is hiring a strategic product design leader to build health and fitness capabilities into its Vision products, according to a job listing reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The role, within Apple's Vision Products Group, seeks someone experienced in developing and validating digital health or fitness products, as well as familiarity with sensor-driven experiences.

This ambition is not new for Apple, as the company previously explored integrating health features into its Vision Pro headset, which never shipped due to technical hurdles and the device's weight being unsuitable for workouts.

However, Apple's success with turning the AirPods into a hearing aid system offers a more encouraging precedent. The company is now aiming at the same ground as Meta's Oakley-branded smart glasses, marketed at cyclists and athletes.

Gurman does not expect these health and fitness capabilities to debut in the first generation of Apple's Vision glasses, with a potential unveiling at WWDC 2027 and a release later that year. The initial product is expected to be display-free, relying on audio and cameras rather than projected visuals.

For those already invested in tracking their health, the best Apple Watch currently available already covers these features, making waiting for a first-generation product less appealing.
